Culture shocks are always there when we go abroad. I've never experienced such things, I don't know how fear and anxious. Today professor Yoshii told us his experience.
One of the stories, he wanted to communicate with native students more, but there were a lot of difference in culture and values. They made him difficult to communicate smoothly and naturally. He tried several ways to overcome. Through them, the two points, Involvement and Independence were so important. The valance between two is different in each culture. Not knowing a difference of it sometime brings misunderstanding, also it takes comparatively a long period.
In order to adopt it, there are several process type, including U-shaped, W-shaped, and Stress adoption. Knowing which type I belong also help us to accept and learn a new culture.
