The Black Cat by Edgar Allan Poe


Do you know black cats have superstitions? In America and some Europe countries, they're regarded as evil and witch's user.
This story teller loved animals very much and feed a lot. One of them, a black cat, Pluto was especially beautiful, clever, and his favorite. He lived with his wife and many animals happily.
 But, he gradually  came to be mad with too much drinking. Although he didn't attacked to Pluto. One day, he realized that Pluto seems to dislike to near him. Then, suddenly he felt angry and killed the cat impulsively due to losing himself for drinking. The next day, he felt sad, sorry, and fear.
 Later, his couple found the cat which resemble to Pluto very much and welcomed  it. It looked usual happy life come backed but...

You may know, This authour, Edgar Allan Poe is also famous for the origin of the name, Edogawa Konan, who is one of the most famous character in Japan.

This story is relatively short and easy to read. It also have a kind of horror. I think it suit to summer night. Perhaps you can't sleep well the day you read it.
